During the Second World War, the three sisters spent a good deal of time living in Ottawa, Canada as a means of protection from the enemy. In response to this favor that the Canadians granted Queen Juliana to do this, the queen gave the Canadian government many thousands of tulip bulbs. Today, we can still see the many thousands of varieties of tulip bulbs beautifying the grounds of Canada's national capital buildings, the House of Parliament.</image:caption>

<image:caption>King Albert II (born 6 June 1934) reigned as King of the Belgians from 1993 until his abdication in 2013. King Albert II is the son of King Leopold III and Queen Astrid, born princess of Sweden. He is the younger brother of Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte of Luxembourg and King Baudouin, whom he succeeded upon Baudouin's death in 1993. He is currently the last living child of Leopold III and Astrid. He married Donna Paola Ruffo di Calabria (now Queen Paola), with whom he had three children. Albert's eldest son, Philippe, is the current King of the Belgians.
On 3 July 2013, King Albert II attended a midday session of the Belgian cabinet. He then announced that, on 21 July, Belgian National Day, he would abdicate the throne for health reasons. He was succeeded by his son Philippe on 21 July 2013. Albert II was the fourth monarch to abdicate in 2013, following Pope Benedict XVI, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, and Emir Hamad bin Khalifa of Qatar.[3] In so doing, he was also the second Belgian monarch to abdicate, following his father Leopold III who abdicated in 1951, albeit under very different circumstances.

<image:caption>This quiet, unassuming monarch was frequently left speechless after he became king in 1936. Much to his surprise, fear and frustration, he took on the role and leadership of king with trepidation. In himself, he had doubts about his ability and heavy responsibility, but through it all, for seventeen years he held court at Buckingham Palace as one of the greater monarchs that Britain and all the British Empire and its member nations, like Canada, have ever seen. At the end of his reign, King George VI was given the title by his subjects, as "George the Good", a wonderful man, a great father to his two beautiful daughters, and an honourable husband for his lovely wife and queen consort. On February 6, 1952, he peacefully passed away in his sleep. Although he was ill, his sudden death was not expected. This was a great shock first to his family, the nation, the empire and to Canada. Our beloved King was dead, God save the Queen. (Photo print courtesy of Reuben A. Bauer - to the WCHF)

Reports show that he exhibits a strong faith and hope for his future and for Denmark. He rarely lets anything substitute the happiness of his family, whom he places first and foremost in his life. This is also quite obvious as he loves to celebrate special occasions with his family. He is certainly admired for his good common sense which he exercises freely. <image:caption>Albert I (8 April 1875 – 17 February 1934) reigned as King of the Belgians from 1909 to 1934. He ruled during an eventful period in the history of Belgium, which included the period of World War I (1914–1918), when 90 percent of Belgium was overrun, occupied, and ruled by the German Empire. Other crucial issues included the adoption of the Treaty of Versailles, the ruling of the Belgian Congo as an overseas possession of the Kingdom of Belgium along with the League of Nations mandate of Ruanda-Urundi, the reconstruction of Belgium following the war, and the first five years of the Great Depression (1929–1934). King Albert died in a mountaineering accident in eastern Belgium in 1934, at the age of 58, and he was succeeded by his son Leopold III (r. 1934–1951).

<image:caption>His Imperial Majesty Czar Nickolas II, in an attempt to quietly disassociate himself from being a public figure, secretly abdicated the Throne. This action was taken due to the pressures from the revolutionaries, his advisors, and the military, but unbeknown to his wife and family. When he arrived home and the empress and children learned of his action, she was furious. He had hoped that by taking this step, that she would be pleased. Again he had misjudged her and he was now faced with her wrath. Poor Nickolas was in the “doghouse again” with his wife. He could never do anything right in her eyes. She always criticized him for something he was not doing right. The Empress was always nagging at him for something. The only reason he took the action secretly was to protect her and quietly leave his role as monarch and hopefully take his wife and the children to escape to mainland Europe. But now, the problem got worse. Shortly after his resignation, the situation became overwhelming. The Czar and family were taken prisoner and held captive and shuffled about from place to place to keep the White Russians (czar’s supporters) from tracking him down and rescuing the czar and family. It was now in less than six months or so, the Imperial Russian family were killed.</image:caption>

The flowers she carried to the Abbey and back to Buckingham Palace were gone. So some of her wedding pictures were taken without the bouquet. Apparently, it became necessary to re-create a new bouquet in a hurry to do the remainder of the wedding photos. <image:caption>The Czar and his son Alexie are seen cutting logs into firewood in Siberia during their captivity in the winter of 1917-1918. Then the Czar had to chop the wood blocks into kindling (smaller pieces) in order to start a fire in the wood stove of their house where the rest of the family lived. They were forced to keep themselves warm during the winter months to avoid freezing to death. It is interesting to see that the Czar was resourceful in teaching his son the basics of survival. The Romanov family were now under surveillance 24/7 by a small army of 300 guards, who constantly kept watch over them. When they suspected that the czar’s supporters were closing in for a rescue, they immediately took the Romanovs’ to another hideout. These moves would take place anytime of the day or night and everybody was forced to move instantly, elsewhere. Most of the common Russian citizen had no knowledge of where their Czar was at or what become of him. Much of this was done in secret. The royal family or Romanov family were treated as common criminals and very little respect was shown to them. The Czar and his family were basically prisoners of the Red Army (Boleshevics).

But this points to the fact that she is a very ordinary individual having emotions and disappointments that face us all. It should not surprise us to see this, as she has had several moments of heart-break. We will not take the liberty of opening wounds and disappointments over the last twenty years or so. I am sure we all know what some of those are. Typically, she is adept at concealing her personal emotions, but this was one moment the camera caught up with her deeply personal feelings that she could not hide.

He becomes King George VI and she becomes Queen Elizabeth Consort later known as the Queen Mum. Why did this happen for them to be King and Queen? Albert's older brother, Edward, Prince of Wales became King in January of 1936 after their father, King George V died. Then King Edward VIII suddenly decided to quit the kingship and he resigned or abdicated in December of that year. So suddenly, Prince Albert, Duke of York, becomes King George VI and his wife becomes Queen Elizabeth. This house was somewhere in Siberia away from the masses where no one would suspect where they were at. Here they were guarded by a contingent of 300 soldiers. The Czar and family were only allowed to come out for an hour a day and get some fresh air.

<image:caption>King Harald V was born 21 February 1937. He is the King of Norway, having ascended the throne upon the death of his father King Olav V on 17 January 1991. Harald was the third child and only son of King Olav V and Princess Märtha of Sweden. He was second in the line of succession at the time of his birth, behind his father. In 1940, as a result of the Nazi occupation during World War II, the royal family went into exile. Harald spent part of his childhood in Sweden and the United States. He returned to Norway in 1945, and subsequently studied for periods of time at the University of Oslo, the Norwegian Military Academy and Balliol College, Oxford. In 1957, following the death of his grandfather King Haakon VII, Harald became crown prince as his father became king. A keen sportsman, he represented Norway in sailing at the 1964, 1968, and 1972 Olympic Games, and later became patron of World Sailing. Harald married Sonja Haraldsen in 1968, their relationship having initially been controversial due to her status as a commoner. The couple had two children, Märtha Louise and Haakon. Harald succeeded his father as king in 1991, with his son Haakon becoming his heir apparent.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The State Funeral for Emperor Hirohito of Japan. Although His Majesty Emperor Hirohito made considerable efforts to modernize and adopt western ways for his country, his state funeral shows something of another side to the man. It is very obvious the Emperor longed to be buried in the manor and style to which he was born, raised and ruled Japan. It is also very evident, that his subjects wished to honor and show their last respects to their deity in a way to which they knew him and honor him in his last rights. It is very evident that the tradition and their historic culture was also being buried with the divinity of their emperor. It is absolutely necessary for us to look upon this event with great respect and esteem for their monarch who was so highly revered. This was possibly the last time the Japanese people would be able to show their admiration and reverence for a divine being in the form of their Emperor. Future Japanese monarchs would be looked upon in a much more moderate and fearless manner. What the barers are carrying is the Emperor's coffin. </image:caption>

<image:caption>Princess Maud of Wales (England) and Prince Charles/Carl of Denmark (later King Haakon VII of Norway) were married. She was born November 26, 1869, Maud was the third daughter and youngest surviving child of the Prince and Princess of Wales (Later King Edward VII). Another son, Prince Alexander John of Wales, was born two years later, but died prematurely, and surprisingly, this ended Alexandra’s child-bearing obligations at 27 (contrast that with Queen Victoria, whose last child was born when she was 38!). Princess Maud’s childhood was filled with Alexandra’s often smothering love and determination that her children remain wholly dependent upon her. As a result, the five Wales’ children were raised in a highly insular setting, making it difficult–even in their adult life, as Queen Mary learned to her dismay–for outsiders to know them intimately. However, Maud was boisterous and rowdy, earning the nickname “Harry,” after her father’s friend Admiral Sir Henry Keppel, and her pranks were encouraged by her mother. Queen Victoria disapproved of the lax rearing of the Wales children and implemented strict discipline when they visited her, a motion which caused the rebellious young Maud to refuse to see her grandmother on one occasion.

<image:caption>Prince Alexei Romanov was the sole heir to the Kingdom of Russia. He was pampered and guarded by his parents and the family not only because he was heir apparent to the Throne of Russia, because he suffered from a rare blood disease which could cause instant death if he fell or bruised himself in any way. Perhaps for reasons of this close observation by everyone, Alexei became neurotic and self-conscience. No doubt as he grew older, he realized his condition and felt the need for overt protection and care. He also became cynical as we see in this picture. As one can imagine for a boy of twelve years of age in this photo, he harbored a great many problems, two of which were the revolt against his father Czar Nicholas and secondly his personal health condition. Just these two issues alone would cripple a young boys' emotions and morale. In this picture the young prince looks very cynical. He did not trust his surroundings. That trust was restored only when he was with his father, Czar Nicholas. </image:caption>

<image:caption>Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, has a special gift of being and looking very regal. She has the style and confidence in her personality to look and feel the part of a royal. As a public figure, Kate Middleton shows a natural grace and charm. But more then that, she is very much aware of her role as a wife to a future king and the necessity to keep herself connected to the local people and their needs. Having been a commoner, Kate is certainly not out of touch with reality of life, but at the same time she is very much aware of her role as a member of the royal family. As a princess, she is jovial, joyful and compassionate first for her immediate family of William and the children, and likewise for the people she meets and greets. Wallis Simpson and the Queen Mum were not on speaking terms, either. Wallis Simpson had been a ruthless tyrant member of the British royals during all this time of her marriage to Edward. <image:caption>This photograph is believed to be the last known picture of Czar Nicholas II. It is further suggested that the Czar never doubted his “people” in their loyalty. He always assured his wife that they would not bring any harm to him or his family. The Czar and his family were guarded night and day by a contingent of 300 Red Army soldiers; while 3 soldiers were posted to stay with the Czar and watch his every move. At times these fellows would attempt to make a “hit” with the princesses, but the Czar would always intervene and tell his daughters get inside the quarters and stay with their mother, the Queen. As we can see in this photo that he was showing signs of stress and anxiety. Even though he believed in his people, the Red Army was plotting plans for the Romanov royals. At last the Czar's throne was a tree stump as we see in this parting picture.

<image:caption>King Felipe and his wife visiting Queen Elizabeth II in England. HM the Queen installs King Felipe as a Knight of the Order of the Garter which is the Most Noble order in the world. This knighthood has only 100 members allowed at any given time. It is usually given by the British Monarch to whomever she wishes as a gift of honor. All those knighted by the English monarch can act, when called upon by the English king or queen, to give the monarch advice on special occasions and act as the monarchs’ closest and personal advisors. So for Queen Elizabeth II to do that, tells us a number of things, one, she trusts Felipe, two, she likes him as a friend and three, she respects his wisdom as an advisor. This act would be considered a rare action on the part of the Queen, as England and Spain were arch enemies back in the years of early explorations looking for new territories in the 1400's and 1500's.

It was noted by some historians, that Prince Alexei was a visionary child. He had some unusual qualities of being prophetic. It was said that at one point near the end of the family's existence, he was to have had a dream about their future in which he saw much blood flowing and disaster. </image:caption>

Her Majesty has many griefs to bear now that her husband, Philip is gone plus the disappointments she holds close to her heart in these days. It is important for us all to be in prayer for Her Majesty. I am sure that she would appreciate that, we are all thinking of her in these troubled times.

Alexander was heavy handed with all his children. Nicholas was much more reserved and quiet in nature and thus more accepting; while his younger brothers talked back and were more rebellious. We don't have strong evidence of this, but it was rumored, that Nicholas was molested by his father's brothers. </image:caption>

Naruhito’s reign began on May 1, 2019 to the present. His Enthronement took place on October 22, 2019. This event is similar to what the English would refer to as the Coronation or crowning of the monarch. Naruhito’s heir apparent or next in line to the Japanese throne is his oldest son, Fumihito. Naruhito’s wife is Princess Masako Owada. They were married in 1993 in the Shinto religion. Today the new Emperor of Japan is His Imperial Majesty Emperor Naruhito.</image:caption>

After that event, it was reported that she needed to cancel another appointment due to the fact she felt exhausted. It is this author's speculation on my part, however my personal feeling is that Her Majesty is emotionally exhausted. The death of her beloved husband is quite possibly having more of an effect on her life than we realize. I am quite sure she certainly misses Prince Philip more than she lets on or the palace officials are allowed to report. </image:caption>

His brother Edward VIII had just resigned from the Throne in December of 1936 and he was thrust into the job. The King had a major speech impediment. He stuttered badly. This was one reason he had to speak slowly and think about each word he was about to say. His wife Elizabeth, later Queen Mum, gave him much support and encouragement. The King ruled for 17 years. He was a good man, much loved by all the people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. </image:caption>

<image:caption>Wilhelmina Helena Pauline Maria; 31 August 1880 – 28 November 1962) was Queen of the Netherlands from 1890 until her abdication in 1948. She reigned for nearly 58 years, longer than any other Dutch monarch. Her reign saw the First and the Second world wars, the Dutch economic crisis of 1933, and the decline of the Netherlands as a major colonial power.
Wilhelmina was the only child of King William III and his second wife, Emma of Waldeck and Pyrmont. On William's death in 1890, she ascended to the throne at the age of ten under the regency of her mother. In 1901, she married Duke Henry of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, with whom she had a daughter, Juliana. Wilhelmina was generally credited with maintaining Dutch neutrality during the First World War.
Following the German invasion of the Netherlands in 1940, Wilhelmina fled to Britain and took charge of the Dutch government-in-exile. She frequently spoke to the Dutch people over radio and came to be regarded as a symbol of the Dutch resistance. She returned to the Netherlands following its liberation in 1945.</image:caption>

<image:caption>After the death of his wife, Princess Grace, Prince Rainier was absolutely devastated. He basically fell apart and found life impossible to face. Basically, it is our understanding, that Prince Rainier died of heart-break. Even as people of high profile like Prince Rainier are just as vulnerable to pain, sorrow and breakdowns as all others in this world. This points to the simple fact, that these folks are just "human" like the rest of society. They suffer, like we do, but often have very little opportunity to express their grief and sorrows to the world. Our prayers need to be with them also!</image:caption>

She has certainly shown to the people that being a commoner and joining royalty can be stressful, but also very rewarding. She knows her role and follows protocol extremely well. Before her marriage to Prince Felipe, she was a TV anchor person. Now her role as Queen of Spain was a big step forward with much more difficult than serving a role for TV audiences.

<image:caption>Louis XIV of France was born on 5 September 1638 and died 1 September 1715. He was also known as “Louis the Great” or the Sun King. He was the King of France from 14 May 1643 until his death in 1715. His reign lasted for 72 years and 110 days. His reign was the longest recorded of any monarch of a sovereign country in European history. Louis XIV's reign of France was emblematic of the age of absolutism in Europe. An absolute monarch was one who received his anointing through birth and was not bound to any laws, as he was above the law for it was believed he could do no wrong. He ruled by divine right from God and no one dared to touch him. He had a regent (an adult who ruled for him until he was of age) who conducted his affairs for him when he took command in 1661. His main goal was to create and stir up conflicts with his neighboring countries to be in constant wars and thus gain power.
The Sun King surrounded himself with a variety of significant political, military, and cultural figures. He also got the support of his nobles by having them live at his palace which by the way was extremely lavish. During Louis' long reign, France emerged as the leading European power, and regularly asserted its military strength. A conflict with Spain marked his entire childhood, while during his personal rule, the kingdom took part in three major continental conflicts, each against powerful foreign alliances. Louis sensed that warfare was the ideal way to enhance his glory. In peacetime he concentrated on preparing for the next war. He taught his diplomats that their job was to create tactical and strategic advantages for the French military in order to gain power by instilling fear.

<image:caption>All the while, the Czar was being shuffled about by the "Red Army" officials after his abdication, Vladimir Lenin was "preaching" his Bolshevik doctrines and stirring the masses to rise up against the Russian aristocracy and the czar and Russian royals. The doctrines of Bolshevism were not clear cut and unified. The whole crisis of the Russian Revolution was very disjointed and confusing as each of the revolutionaries had their own version of what this revolution should and would be.</image:caption>
