E-228 King and Queen - Jasper AB CA June 1939

King George VI and his wife Queen Elizabeth consort in the Royal Lodge at Jasper, Alberta, Canada. The King and Queen were on their royal tour of Canada in 1939. Accompanying the royal couple was the Canadian Prime Minister Mackenzie King. He was with them from start to finish. They just could not get rid of him. It was at this Royal Lodge where the King and Queen had put their foot down and said “No, you cannot move in with us at the Royal Lodge.” He insisted to live with them. Their Majesties the King and Queen were adamant that he have his own quarters. They insisted on their privacy. The prime minister finally relented and moved out.
